About the position

As a leader in the on-demand services economy, Gengo is solving some of the most complex problems in crowdsourcing today.

We are looking for an Operations Analyst Intern to join our Translator Operations team to take on these problems and challenges, brainstorm genuinely new ideas not implemented in any other company, and ultimately help us to disrupt and replace the age-old traditional language services business model.

The ideal candidate for this job is a college student or recent college graduate who is looking for internship experience in a fast-paced, agile startup.  By the end of your first week, you’ll be working with key performance indicators, diving into the trove of data we collect on our translations, and presenting proposals and ideas to improve everything about our company.

Responsibilities

  • Tracking of weekly and monthly metrics and updating periodic reports so that all parts of the business remain informed and "in the know"
  • Analyzing key performance indicators and identifying significant trends and patterns that will better our understand of translator quality, engagement, and capacity.
  • Coordinating thousands of translators and hundreds of reviewers so that projects are completed and delivered on time with high quality
  • Digging into complex natural language processing problems and researching new ideas and technology that will improve Gengo's operations

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or working towards a degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or related subject
  • Business level English
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Experience with SQL and spreadsheet tools
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast­-paced, high pressure environment
  • Experience communicating with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Currently located in Tokyo, Japan

Bonus skills

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as R, Stata, or Hadoop
  • Experience with translating
