About the Position

As the Head of Crowd Capacity and Acquisitions, you’ll be managing a team directly responsible for growing our translator and AI contributor crowd to meet the needs of ongoing and upcoming projects. You’ll work together with other teams like Project Management, Design and Product on tactical daily operations as well as long-term initiatives to tackle crowd capacity challenges and improve system efficiency. Analyzing large amounts of data will be your key to managing the crowd and ensuring we deliver industry-leading speed for the millions of orders we handle each week. 

The right candidate for this position is a strong leader and mentor with a data-driven approach to problem-solving. You have excellent judgement, can take action quickly and aren’t afraid to get in the weeds to solve day-to-day tactical problems. You analyze data to look for historical patterns and forecast future trends, proposing creative solutions to solve capacity bottlenecks for ongoing and upcoming projects.

 

Responsibilities

Mentor, manage and grow the capacity team

  • You are experienced in mentoring and managing others and have a genuine desire in elevating your team members to become great, well-rounded professionals equipped with the soft and hard skills necessary to maintain, grow and expand Gengo’s global crowd
  • You are passionate about tracking team performance with SMART goals, implementing achievable, relevant and data-driven KPIs

Balance tactical daily operations with strategic capacity system improvements 

  • Responsible for the overall system health in terms of capacity and speed, you monitor KPIs and resolve speed of delivery issues through crowd growth and reactivation 
  • You run acquisition campaigns across several social media platforms to increase the available crowd pool, maintaining a healthy supply and demand dynamic throughout the system
  • You manage the overall acquisition budget and optimize acquisition campaigns to maximize cost performance
  • You work with marketing and product teams to make iterative improvements to the platform and workflows, designing new software solutions to improve crowd acquisition, onboarding and retention
  • Working with internal project management and solutions architect teams, you define crowd acquisition strategies for upcoming AI and translation projects including the hiring and onboarding workflows, budget and contractor hiring 
  • You regularly explore and test new acquisition platforms to scale crowd acquisition for current and new markets

Analyze historical data to find patterns and forecast future crowd engagement

  • You are the expert on crowd capacity, seasonal and market trends and crowd engagement patterns. By analyzing KPIs and historical data, you will identify significant trends in crowd engagement to improve crowd dynamics and better our understanding of crowd behaviour
  • You’re familiar with SQL, can extract data from the database to analyze on your own, and you work with the Data Engineering and BI teams to enable you to receive regular reports necessary for monitoring crowd capacity
  • You forecast future crowd capacity for upcoming projects and make data-driven business decisions

 

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team 
  • 2-5 years of data and trend analysis experience, with the ability to clearly articulate results to other teams
  • Solid understanding of digital marketing fundamentals, user conversion and PPC strategies with proficiency in Facebook marketing
  • Ability to extract insights from analyzing historical data and making iterative data-driven workflow and process improvements 
  • Interest in the AI industry and a basic understanding of data annotation
  • Strong project management skills and team-oriented with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail

 

Bonus skills

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as R and Python
  • Knowledge of Japanese or another language
