Localization Project Engineer

The Gengo Projects Team is responsible for managing complex translation projects from global enterprise clients in the Ecommerce, Travel and Media industries. You will be given aggressive deadlines and will be managing the translation of potentially tens of millions of words. While background in project management and/or translation is a plus, we are looking for creative problem solvers above all.

For this position, we are also seeking a technically skilled individual who can aid the rest of the team with preparing and handling translation files. You will be asked to help troubleshoot issues related to file types, encoding, and compatibility with CAT tools.

This position is for our project management team in Manila office.



  • Creating timelines and workflows customized for each project's specific content type, volume, languages and file formats
  • Regular communication with customers and translator teams regarding project details and deadlines
  • Managing QA processes to ensure on-time, polished deliverables
  • Documenting processes and regularly suggesting improvements for future iterations
  • Helping the rest of the team prepare and handle translation files using your knowledge of a wide variety of file types, CAT tools, and regular expressions.
  • Leading the team as a technical PM to support other team members, and being a point of contact for any technical issues
  • Creating automation scripts to streamline any manual processes for each project’s specific workflow.



  • Strong technical acumen—you have experience with CAT tools, are comfortable writing regular expressions, scripts and are very familiar with many different file types used in the translation/localization industry
  • Excellent website localization management skills - you know the best practices to extract data, and parse it in CAT tools in the most efficient way
  • Excellent critical thinking and creative problem solving skills—you like solving complex puzzles with no instructions
  • Strong communication skills—translators are Gengo’s biggest resource and you will be speaking with them daily
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work in Gengo office in Manila on night shift
  • Flexible availability
  • Multicultural experience/fluency in additional language a big plus
  • Should be able to read code and be familiar with different programming languages
  • Familiarity with DTP (optional)
